GUWAHATI, Feb 26: Bangalore-based Elecnovo, a startup founded by one Ratul Chandra Borah, has been granted a patent by the Patent Office, Government of India on a learning-based motor control system for electric vehicle and a method to operate the same recently.

The patented technology is related to optimising the performance parameters of electric vehicles to achieve increased performance, accuracy, efficiency, reliability and safety.

Elecnovo was founded in 2018 and its team includes electronics engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing and business professionals.

“The technology has an electronic system comprising microcontroller, driver model, sensor circuit, motor and performance parameter optimisation subsystem. The electronic system collects, computes and generates data associated with each performance parameter of an electric vehicle,” Borah said. “In addition to the granted patented technology, Elecnovo had also developed technologies and filed patents on the motor control system for electric vehicles and sensor-less technology to operate Brushless DC (BLDC) motors,” Borah said.

Borah had done his bachelor of engineering in mechanical engineering from Assam Engineering College. He had also done a master of engineering in industrial engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology. He had worked in Hong Kong for about 15 years before starting his entrepreneurship journey in Bangalore.

Elecnovo is engaged in the design, development, manufacturing and supply of motors and controllers for Electric Vehicles. Elecnovo provides motor and controller solutions to electric light-duty vehicles like electric rickshaw, electric bicycles, electric scooters, electric motorcycles, electric light-duty passenger and goods vehicles.

It has a wide range of customers in electric two-wheelers, electric three-wheelers and electric goods vehicles.
