Stage set for Mr Saraighat contest

GUWAHATI, March 31 - The stage at the ITA Centre here is all set to host the 29th edition of the Mr Saraighat RG Baruah Memorial Classic Bodybuilding Championship on April 3.

�We have completed all arrangement to organise the championship in a befitting manner like previous years but the dearth of sponsorship becoming a hurdle for this cash rich meet which attracts top bodybuilders of the country�, said Bhabajyoti Goswami secretary of the organising body.

He further revealed that the glorious event may face closure soon if the business houses deny to support this championship.

Goswami, addressing a press conference said, the championship will be organised by Saraighat Gym in association with Assam Body Builders and Fitness Association under the aegis of the Indian Body Builders Federation.

Apart from Mr Saraighat, Sadin Pratidin Mr Saraighat Classic, meant for the Assam players will also be conducted in the meet. This championship carries cash award of Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 for first tree position holders.

The Mr Saraighat title holder will walk away with a cash award of Rs 1,25,000 while the second and third position winner will become richer by Rs 1,00,000 and Rs 80,000 respectively. Cash award will be presented to 4th to 10th position holders also.

Assam will be represented by Nabajit Das, Dipu Dutta, Subhadeep Baidya, Subhankar Das, Samardeep Barman, Koshar Ali and Dipu Das in Mr Sarighat contest.

Organising body�s executive chairman Basanta Das, national referee Ramen Dutta, internationally famed bodybuilder A Bobby Singh were also present during the press meet.
