AIZAWL, Dec 10 - Thousands of electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be unsealed on Tuesday to know the peoples verdict in Mizoram Assembly elections held in one phase on November 28.
The stage is now set for counting of votes with elaborate security arrangements in place at all district headquarters. Counting would begin at 8 am simultaneously in all the 40 counting halls across the State, CEO Ashish Kundra said today.
In Aizawl, there will be 14 counting halls in three counting centres, namely, Government Hrangbana College, Assembly Annexe Building, Government Aizawl College, Pachhunga University College and R Dengthuama Hall. In all the eight districts, there will be 40 counting halls in 13 counting centres.
The counting would reveal the fate of 209 candidates whose fates have been sealed with the EVMs at the end of the polling process.
The CEO said three-tier security cordon is being arranged in all the 13 counting centres for the smooth flow of EVMs between the respective strong rooms where polled EVMs are kept and the counting halls.
