GUWAHATI, Dec 1 � The Assam Bodybuilding Association (ABA) has completed all arrangements for holding the Mr Assam contest at Sivasagar on the occasion of Association�s silver jubilee celebration.
The three-day meet will be held at the Boarding Field and Piyoli Phukan Stadium from December 5 to 7. Along with the Mr Assam contest, an all India level open bodybuilding championship will also be organised.
Giving details about the preparation, ABA secretary, former Mr India Bijit Gogoi and renowned bodybuilder Mahadeb Deka in a press conference said that, apart from Assam, top bodybuilders from States like Delhi, Punjab, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Orissa will contest for the title in the all India championship.
The State championship will be held in 15 groups. Five weight groups for juniors, seven for seniors and three for masters.
The competitors have to report on December 5 and the preliminary competitions will be conducted on next day. The finals will be held at the Boarding Field on December 7 from 4 pm.
Eminent sportspersons like Harakanta Borgohain, Bhogeswar Baruah, Arun Borthakur, Phanindra Gogoi will be felicitated by the organisers. State Speaker Pranab Gogoi, MLA Debabrata Saikia will be present on various programmes of the championship, informed Bijit Gogoi.
