GUWAHATI, Sept 1 � The 28th Abhiruchi Sports Day celebrated to mark the birthday of Assam�s first Arjuna Award winner Bhogeswar Barua will be observed with the usual fervour on September 3. This year the star attraction of the day will be Arjuna awardee and star athlete Ashwini Nachappa who will lead the mass jogging programme, said chairman of the organising committee Bolendra Mohan Chakravorty in a press meet here today.
The day will kickstart with the mass jogging event from Chandmari flyover at 6.15. Nachappa will lead the event and there will be other sporting greats like Monalisa Baruah Mehta in the event.
The event will be flagged of by Health and education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The jogging event will culminate at the Nehru Stadium where noted sportspersons and personalitiess related to sports will be felicitated. At the Nehru Stadium there will also be a inter-school dance and physical training competition.
The organisers also Oil India Limited, NRL, ONGC, Coca Cola for their financial assistance.
