GUWAHATI, Sept 23 - Special Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Jyotirmay Chakravarty visited the Frontier Headquarters, Guwahati, and took stock of the security preparedness of the field units and BOPs during his tour from September 20 to 23.
He also reviewed the prevailing security scenario along the Indo-Bhutan border in general and BTAD area in particular with senior officers of the SSB. He issued various security-related instructions to all field formations.
At Sonapur, Chakravarty laid the foundation stone for the SSB administrative building, estimated to cost Rs 28.44 crore, and type-IV and V residential quarters with an estimated cost of Rs 5.5 crore. The project is likely to be completed in 24 months. At the foundation stone laying ceremony, he was accompanied by PK Gupta, Inspector General of SSB, Frontier Tezpur.
