SSB Guwahati Frontier celebrates 57th anniversary

GUWAHATI, Dec 17 - The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Frontier Headquarters Guwahati, celebrated the 57th anniversary of the force at its 1st Bn at Sonapur today, stated a press release.

Sanjeev Sharma, Inspector General, Frontier Headquarters SSB, Guwahati, graced the programme as the chief guest.

To boost the morale and motivate the personnel, Force Headquarters SSB, New Delhi, has announced DG�s commendation discs and certificates for six officers and 39 officials from various units under the Frontier Headquarters Guwahati for their meritorious and outstanding service. The IG presented the awards and praised the awardees for their outstanding contributions to the force and the country.

The IG also laid a wreath on the Martyrs� Memorial.

During his address, he recalled the rich history of SSB, including how it came into being in the form of Special Service Bureau under the Cabinet Secretariat in 1963 after the Indo-China war and subsequently transformed into Sashastra Seema Bal in 2001 when it was given the task of manning the border with Nepal. It was also given the responsibility of guarding the border with Bhutan in 2004.

As part of the anniversary celebration, cultural programmes were also held showcasing the country�s diversity.

The DIG Frontier Headquarters SSB, Guwahati, the Commandant of the 1st Bn, other officers, jawans and their family members also attended the event.
