DIMAPUR, July 27 - Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts Awareness Drive under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign was launched in Kohima recently.
Nagaland Minister for Social Security & Welfare Kiyanilie Peseyie expressed his happiness that in Nagaland the activity of BBBP is going strong under the State Resource Centre for Women. Stating that girl�s education is the key to empowering their future, he said, �We should take advantage of the scheme to ensure that we empower as many girls as we can with education.�
While congratulating the State Resource Centre for Women and the Postal Department for taking initiative to collaborate with the SSA drive under BBBP, Peseyie called upon the various departments for convergence and collaboration for a concerted effort to help the important scheme.
Z Nyusietho Nyuthe of State Child Protection Society, in his keynote address, said the nationwide campaign on BBBP, which is being carried out across the country, is aimed at giving the girl child equal opportunity in the society by reducing female foeticide and increasing literacy among women.
Highlighting on the scheme, he said SSA envisions securing the future of the girl child by having an insurance policy that can be started from 0-10 years old which needs to be withdrawn when the account matures after 21 years.
