Srimanta Sankardeva Movement fest in Mumbai

GUWAHATI, May 3 � Socio-cultural organisation Trend MMS today said the third edition of the �Srimanta Sankardeva Movement� festival will be held at NCPA auditorium in Mumbai on May 18.

The day-long event will feature a discussion on 'Relevance of Srimanta Sankardeva in Modern India' which would be addressed by reputed Vaishnavite scholar Dr Sunil Kothari, Governor JB Patnaik, senior police officer Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, actor Adil Hussain, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and actor Victor Banerjee, a press statement said.

It would be followed by an interaction with Mumbai-based media.

In the evening a cultural programme will be organised showcasing the culture of Assam.

Reputed Marathi singer Ashwini Bhide Deshpande a �Bhajan Samarat� Anup Jalota will perform Borgeet in the function, which will be hosted by noted TV presenter Sidharth Kak.

It will also witness performance by Assamese actresses like Barasharani Bishaya, Tanvi Sarma and Madhurima Choudhury.

�Ustad Amjad Ali Khan would give sarod tribute to Srimanta Sankardeva followed by a performance by Zubin Garg. Well known Assamese singer Khagen Mahanta would be felicitated for his outstanding contribution towards Assamese culture,� the statement said.

The earlier editions of the Srimanta Sankardeva Movement were held at Delhi in 2012 and Bengaluru in 2013.
