GUWAHATI, Nov 8 � The fifth edition of the North East Senior Badminton Championship is scheduled to be held at the Kanaklata Indoor Stadium here from November 28.

The Assam Senior Badminton Club (ASBC) has been organising the championship for last four years where players in the age group of 35 years to 55 years take part.

Explaining about this year�s championship, the organising secretary Prasanta Bora said in a press conference here today that, players from all the north eastern States, including Sikkim along with Uttar Pradesh and Bengal will be seen in action. The organisers are expecting about 250 shuttlers who will vie for the title in singles, doubles (men) and mixed doubles.

In singles there will be two groups-35 years and 45 years. In doubles, players in the age groups of 35, 40, 45, 50 and 55 years will compete for different crowns. In the mixed doubles the total age of the pair has to be 70 years.

Borah also informed that a total amount of Rs 3 lakh is at stake as prize money.

ASBC vice presidents Diganta Kalita, Subhash Das, Dhiraj Nath, treasurer Kula Talukdar were also present in the press conference and explained about various aspects of the three-day championship.
