By Correspondent

JALUKBARI, April 2 - University Grants Commission Human Resource Development Centre (UGC-HRDC) of Gauhati University is organising a Springer Author Workshop on April 5 in the GU Institute of Science & Technology (GUIST) auditorium.

The main target audience of the workshop will be faculty members of universities, colleges and other institutions of higher education, besides research scholars and highly motivated post-graduate students. Aninda Bose, distinguished author and Senior Editor of Springer Nature India will conduct the workshop with his team from New Delhi.

The first scientific journal which was published in 1665 has travelled 350 years since then. In the last 20 years, science and reporting of science have undergone revolutionary changes. Computerisation and internet have changed the traditional ways of reading and writing. Hence, it is very important for scientists and students of the sciences in all disciplines to understand the complete process of writing and publishing of scientific paper in good journals, according to the organisers of the workshop.

Springer is in the business of publishing for more than 175 years and understands the needs of scientific community. To help authors write quality manuscripts and to enhance the overall quality of scientific content, Springer along with premier universities and institutes across the globe, has taken initiative to host a series of free workshops.

These author workshops are designed to lay emphasis on the most important part of research, and that research is not complete until it is published. Publishing enables researchers to exchange ideas globally and acquire research funding as well as advancement in their careers.

Some of the important topics covered in these workshops include: how to choose the best journal for your paper, what is the submission process, how to prepare the perfect manuscript, what peer review is and how to handle peer review comments, etc.

Prof Jogen Ch Kalita, Director of the UGC-HRDC GU said, There has been a huge response from faculty members, research scholars and postgraduate students from various institutions across the region for attending the workshop. Workshops like these will help the authors get updated and become aware of the recent developments.
