Guwahati, April 25: Lenien Jamir of the Monmouth University women's tennis team, New Jersey, have been named to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) 2022 Women's Tennis All-Academic Team player for the second consecutive year.

Jamir who hails from Mokokchung district of Nagaland became the first ever tennis player from the State to earn an athletic scholarship at the Monmouth University in New Jersey in 2021.

She has put up some highly consistent performances and recently earned the All-MAAC honours.

As per reports, a total of 38 student-athletes were named to the 2022 MAAC Women's Tennis All-Academic Team, announced by the MAAC on April 22, 2022.

The 2022 MAAC Men's and Women's Tennis Championships was held on April 23-24 at Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ. This was the 10th consecutive championship held at Mercer County Park Tennis Center dating back to the 2012 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships.
