GUWAHATI, April 6 - The Sports Journalists Welfare Association, Assam (SJWAA) today honoured promising athlete Heema Das with the Gautam Bora Memorial Award while special cricketer Kameswar Das was felicitated with the Kulen Kalita Memorial Award on the occasion of SJWAA�s foundation day at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium here today. The awards carry Rs 10,000 each along with other gifts.

A seminar on �Guwahati to be built as sports capital of India� was organised on the occasion where speakers like SAI Director Subhash Basumatary, SLAC member secretary Lakhya Konwar, social worker Dhiren Baruah, former deputy director of Sports and Youth Welfare Pradip Hazarika, former international footballers Gilbertson Sangma, Debasish Roy, sports organisers Tridib Duvarah, Hemanta Kumar Kalita, Bishnu Ram Nunisa expressed their views.

Earlier, the new body of the organisation was set up in its Annual General Meeting held yesterday with Uday Borgohain as adviser, Kumud Talukdar as president, Hildul Gogoi as secretary and Gitika Talukdar as treasurer.
