GUWAHATI, Aug 14 - On the eve of the Independence Day, the Government of Assam announced the name of 40 sportspersons of the State for regular sports pension for the year 2020-21.�
Addressing the media here today, Director of Sports, Dharmakanta Mili revealed that while 40 sportspersons were given the regular sports pension of Rs 8000, on the other hand 40 sportspersons were awarded one time financial assistance (Ex-Gratia) at Rs 50,000.
Among those present on the occasion were Lakhya Konwar, member secretary, State Level Advisory Committee, Student and Youth Welfare; former international footballer Gilbertson Sangma; veteran journalist and sports organiser Premadhar Sarma.
