Sports organiser Jatin Bora remembered

GUWAHATI, Sept 1 - Noted sports organiser and former chairman of the Assam State Electricity Board Jatindra Kumar Bora was remembered on the occasion of his 77th birthday. Bora, who passed away on January 1, 2015 was integral to the ASEB Sports Club, a leading football club of the country.

The memorial meeting was organised by the JK Bora Memorial Forum here today, where speakers like former State player Narayan Boro, ASEB official Karuna Sarma, Assam Football Association secretary Hemendra Nath Brahma spoke regarding his contribution.

Former principal of the Cotton College Prof Udayaditya Bharali attending the function as chief guest said, Bora had been a great organiser with a wide vision. Despite being the chairman of an organisation like ASEB, he devoted time for the cause of sports. A true sportsperson, Bora had a great contribution towards Guwahati Sports Association, of which he was president. He was also associated with the Assam Football Association and Assam Cricket Association, among others.

A book on Jatin Bora � Amlanjyoti was released on the occasion.

Three persons � coach Ganesh Rai, policemen Mithun Das, rising footballer Dipu Mirdha (Sunrise AC) were felicitated for their contribution in their respective fields. AATA secretary Ankush Dutta offered the vote of thanks.
