GUWAHATI, April 4 - For the convenience of voting by physically challenged voters and elderly and infirm voters in the city during the ensuing Assembly elections, the Kamrup Metro election district has constituted a �Disability Facilitation Cell� by incorporating field level officers from different departments and members of civil society.
Sujata Sachibrata, Assistant Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, has been appointed as the nodal officer of the Cell. Kishori Baruah, District Social Welfare Officer of Kamrup Metro, will assist the nodal officer and prepare detail plan for engaging field level officers from different departments and members from civil society in consultation with the Joint Director Health Services, the Inspector of Schools, the Executive Director of NGO Shishu Sarothi, and officials from Nehru Yuva Kendra and Bharat Scouts & Guides.
The field level functionaries engaged to facilitate such voters in the respective polling stations on the election day will be tasked to make proper advance liasioning with the voters and remain present at their assigned polling stations.
Arman Ali, Executive Director of Shishu Sarothi, collaborative partner with district election authority in this project, will coordinate with the DSWO and the other departmental officials and civil society functionaries in chalking out a holistic plan in this regard.
The DSWO has also been asked to issue necessary instructions and coordinate with field level functionaries of the stakeholders to ensure proper facilitation on the poll day.
