Spl Dibrugarh to Dhubri train on Shahid Diwas

GOLAKGANJ, Nov 16 � The North East Frontier Railway will run a special train from Dibrugarh to Dhubri on the occasion of Shahid Diwas (martyrdom day) of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji. This was informed by the Pratinidhi Board Eastern Zone (SPBEZ) which is celebrating the 339th martyrdom day of the ninth Guru of the Sikh religion with a three-day programme from November 25.

Brisk preparations are under way to celebrate the occasion, including illumination of the shrine and round-the-clock �Guru ka langar�.

Nagar Kirtan (procession in the town) will be taken out on November 26 where nearly 50,000 Sikh people coming from various parts of North-east and other parts of the country will take part.

The board is also making arrangements to accommodate the devotees comfortably in and around the gurudwara. The gurudwara has a huge number of halls, dormitories and rooms of its own for accommodation.

�Even then we have to make arrangements for accommodation of devotees outside the gurudwara premises, so that they do not have to face any inconvenience for staying during Shahid Diwas celebration�, a sources in the board informed.

The secretary of Pratinidhi Board Eastern Zone Sardar Kulwant Singh thanked the North East Frontier Railway for sanctioning the special train for the devotees of the State and other North-east regions.

As a part of three-day long programme, an akhand paath will begin on November 25 and a nagar kirtan will be taken out on November 26. �Guru-ka-langar� will be served on all the three days, Singh further informed.

Singh informed that the special train would leave Dibrugarh at 3.30 pm on November 24 and reach Dhubri the following morning and it would depart from Dhubri at 5.30 pm on November 27.

Singh also appealed to all the political and non-political organisations of the State not to call bandhs during the celebration of the Shahid Diwas and sought co-operation of the Dhubri district administration, police department, Municipal Board, local institutions and local people to make the celebration a grand success.
