Spike in Arunachal cases

ITANAGAR, Aug 19 - Arunachal Pradesh registered the highest single-day spike of 133 COVID-19 positive cases on Tuesday with Upper Subansiri district taking the bulk of the caseload with 65.

With the detection of the fresh cases, the State�s tally of confirmed cases has swelled up to 2,875. These include 921 active and 1,949 discharged cases along with five casualties, a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services here stated.

West Kameng recorded 22 of the new cases, Itanagar Capital Complex got 16 and eight cases each came from Tirap and Changlang. Tawang recorded three cases, while two each were found in Shi-Yomi, East Kameng and Papum Pare. One case each was detected in Leparada, Siang, West Siang, Namsai and East Siang districts.

All 65 Upper Subansiri cases were reported from Daporijo town, prompting the district administration to declare the New Market area in the district headquarters as a containment zone.
