By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 27 - The Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) is organising its fourth international convention at IIT Guwahati from May 9 to 15.

This will be in continuation of the tradition of SPIC MACAYs 32 previous such conventions, which IITs have been organising every year almost since the inception of the movement.

The international convention is the culmination of the year-long programmes conducted all over the country and abroad. An apolitical, pan-India, voluntary youth movement, SPIC MACAY organised 7,500 events in 300 towns in India and 50 abroad, consisting of over 600 chapters in the last one year to bring the young generation closer to Indias rich cultural tapestry. These events cover every aspect of Indian culture and heritage classical music and dance, folk arts, crafts, yoga, classic cinema screenings, heritage walks etc.

The fourth international convention of SPIC MACAY, to be held at IIT Guwahati, is aimed to be a heritage festival for the whole of North East India. The convention is expected to display a series of programmes by some of the most eminent artistes of the country. It will be attended by a large number of dignitaries from across the country and delegates from abroad as well.

Applications for registration from participants are invited by SPIC MACAY. The registration will remain open till March 31, after which SPIC MACAY will shortlist the participants. One can also register online by visiting the SPIC MACAY website.
