Special poll team visits Karbi Anglong

DIPHU, March 18 - A special team deputed by the Election Commission of India for the Assam Assembly elections visited Karbi Anglong district today for a comprehensive review of poll preparedness.

The special team led by Avinash Kumar is making first-hand assessment of various arrangements made by the local election machinery for the conduct of free and fair election.

The main subject areas of the team is to observe systematic quality and arrangement of electoral rolls like infrastructure, separate polling station for women, visually challenged and leprosy patients, model polling stations, CCTV monitoring and web casting, polling personnel data base, model code of conduct, vulnerability mapping of the district election management plan, transportation plan, communication, deployment of sufficient police and military forces in vulnerable and critical polling stations, etc.

The special team is also monitoring the expenditure of all the candidates.

Meanwhile, another team along with the Chief Election Commissioner of India will visit Guwahati on March 21 and 22 to review the status of preparedness of the elections, a government press release stated.
