Special health mela organised

By City Correspondent

GUWAHATI, March 5 - West Guwahati MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita inaugurated a special health mela organised by National Health Mission, District Health Society, Kamrup Metro on the Gopalnanda Ashram campus here on Monday. Our aim is to reach the unreached and provide quality health services especially to the marginalised section of society. This special health mela is an effort to provide health services to the people and make them aware about various health schemes of the government, he said.

Nearly 400 people were provided free medical services including OPD services, free medicine and laboratory facilities. OPD services were provided by specialists of gynaecology, paediatrics, medicine, ENT, eye, etc. Lab tests for haemoglobin, sugar, albumin etc., were done free of cost.

The health mela targeted the nearby slum areas so that specialist medical services can be provided in those pockets where people lack awareness about available medical services in government health facilities.
