GUWAHATI, April 9 � State Legislative Assembly Secretariat today accorded permission to a police team from Patharkandi in Karimganj district to conduct a search in the Assembly quarter of Congress legislator from Karimganj South Legislative Assembly Constituency Siddeque Ahmed in connection with a case related to a brawl.
According to Principal Secretary of the State Assembly GP Das, the Patharkandi police team came armed with a court order looking for the Congress legislator. The permission for the purpose was obtained from Speaker of the State Assembly Pranab Gogoi over phone as the latter is currently in his constituency.
However, the Congress legislator was not found in his Assembly quarter by the Patharkandi police team, said the Principal Secretary of the State Assembly.
