GUWAHATI, March 21 - The World Sparrow Day was celebrated with a lot of programmes by Anirban Nature Club, Golaghat in the premises of Golaghat Sankardev Sishu Vidya Niketan today, stated a press release.
Competitions in bird nest making, sparrow painting and elocution on the occasion were organized among school students from Class V to Class X. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Golaghat, Utpal Kumar Doley, Rakhi Dutta Saikia, president, Anirban Nature Club, Apurba Ballabh Goswami, president, Golaghat Journalists� Association, Arun Kumar Saikia, president of the school managing committee, Diganta Adhyapak, Acharjya of the school, Arup Duarah, Arnab Saikia and Rubul Ahmed of the organizing club, school teachers, parents and the local people participated in the programme.
The elocution contest was held in two groups. Sonalika Bordoloi, Swagat Gohain and Minarva Kashyap bagged the first three positions respectively in the lower group while Jagyatri Chutia, Pratyush Prasanta Tamuly and Layanjyoti Dutta bagged the three top positions respectively in the upper group.
In the bird nest making, Bibek Gogoi, Kaustabhmoni Borah and Bedanta Pratim Bordoloi were adjudged the top three contestants respectively, while in the painting competition, Udita R Hazarika, Minarva Kashyap and Ankur Gogoi got the first three prizes respectively. Ananya Priyam Bora was given a consolation prize, the release added.
