GUWAHATI, April 3 � Kolkata super division outfit Five Star Southern Samity played a goalless draw against Shimla Youngs of Delhi in the 2nd Division I-League at Nehru Stadium here today. In other matches of the day, North Imphal Sports Association (NISA) rallied to beat Gauhati Town Club 3-1 while Golden Thread edged past Langsning Sports Club of Shillong 2-1 in a close match. The day�s first match was played between Town and NISA at the Nehru Stadium. Chayaram Basumatary stunned the NISA custodian with a sudden shot in the second minute of the match but their jubilation was short lived as Nabachandra drew level after two minutes. Nanimohan took NISA 2-1 ahead in the 28th minute and finally Jimmy fired the final salvo in the injury time.
At Nehru Stadium in the afternoon, fancied Southern Samity failed to impress as their mid-fielders and frontliners could not make good use of the scoring opportunities. Both Simla Youngs and Southern Samity adopted defensive tactics and as a result the ball confined to the midfield most of the time. Defenders of both the teams were perfect in tackling the opponent frontliners. Southern Samity�s Brazilian coach Carlos Pereira later said he was quite disappointed with the performance of his mid-fielders and strikers. He said his players have to adopt the situation and play more aggressively in the coming matches. Pereira was also not satisfied with the ground condition. In another match of the day at the SAI ground, Golden Thread edged out Langsining Sports Club 2-1 in a temperamental match. Micheal Ochei put his team ahead in the 18th minute but in the 40th minute Anil Kumar PC restored parity. The momentum of the match increased in the second session and Golden Thread substitute striker Sanu KS fired the match winner in the 83rd minute. Ochei was sent off in the 85th minute.
