GUWAHATI, Jan 29 � South Point School and Ulubari HS School played out a thrilling encounter in the final of the Nabin Chandra Tamuly Inter School Cricket Tournament organised by the Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre.
South Point won by just 1 run at the Nehru Stadium here today. Batting first, South Point piled up 164 in 34.2 overs. Sahil Jain (42) and Subham Dutta (25) and Abhinash Terang (20) were their notable contributors. For Ulubari, Sohal Hussain and Monu Sharma took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Ulubari fell short of just 1 run. Biswa Sarania were their star of the innings with 53 on the board while Raju Sah remained not out on 26. For South Point, Sahil Jain and Subham Jain took 2 wickets each.
The man-of-the series Sahil Jain became richer by Rs 2,000 and Biswa Sarania bagged the man-of-the-match award.
Secretary of Assam Cricket Association Bikash Baruah, Sports Journalist Federation of India secretary Subodh Malla Baruah, Assam Sports Journalists Association president Pabitra Gogoi, ex-Ranji player Nabi Gul Khan, GSA official Zahirul Haque were present during the prize distribution ceremony.
