MIRZA, July 20 - South Kamrup district will celebrate the Independence Day on August 15 for the first time at Chhaygaon with a three-day colourful programme.
In an interview with this correspondent recently, the Deputy Commissioner of the district, Rajiv Prakash Baruah, said that a meeting was held with senior officials from all the departments at Chhaygaon to chart out plans for preparation of the Independence Day celebration.
After the inception of the South Kamrup district on February 29, 2016, the newly formed local administration is now all set to celebrate the Independence Day at Chhayagon Mini Stadium.
�The Independence Day will be celebrated with a three-day colourful programme from August 13 to 15. All the Circle Offices under South Kamrup district have been directed to organise football matches, debate competitions, quiz competitions on the eve of the Independence Day. The district-level main function will be organised at Chhaygaon Mini Stadium on August 15,� said the DC.
