Sonowal visits Atirudra Mahayajna, offers aahuti on concluding day

BAIHATA CHARIALI, Sept 25 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today visited the Atirudra Mahayajna at Amingaon and offered puja and aahuti to Lord Shiva.

The mahayajna which began on September 19 with a seven-day programme concluded today. A number of ministers, MLAs and political leaders also came today. Ministers Pallab Lochan Das, Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, former Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu, Ramakanta Deori and Rekibuddin Ahmed, MLAs of Morigaon and Chayygaon LACs respectively visited the yajna venue today. This mahayajna was organised for the first time in the North-east.

Regular chanting of mantras and �Shiva stotram� by 130 priests from south India simultaneously created a festive affair at the Numali Jalah parade ground, Amingaon and turned the venue into a second �Baikuntha dham�. Everyday, numerous devotees and visitors including a number of ministers, political leaders, MLAs, businessmen and other common people visited the yajna venue and prayed to receive blessings from Lord Shiva. Dr Hima�ta Biswa Sarma, Minister of PWD and Health and Family Welfare, came to the venue to offer aahuti everyday. Besides him, Jayanta Malla Barua and Nabadeep Kalita, chairman and vice-chairman respectively of the Assam Tourism department, ministers Piyush Hazarika and Bhabesh Kalita, MLA of Batadraba LAC Angurlata Deka, popular actors Jatin Bora and Akashdeep, actress Aimee Barua, BJP state committee secretary Dilip Saikia and some other leaders also visited the yajna venue and offered puja.

On September 23, the venue turned into a sea of humanity as reportedly more than 50,000 devotees and visitors thronged there. A total of 200 security personnel, 20 Fire and Emergency Service personnel, about 2000 volunteers and members of management committee, PHED staff, medical staff and others rendered services.
