Sonowal takes stock of situation at Nagaon

NAGAON, April 6 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited Nagaon Swahid Bhugeswari Phookonani Civil Hospital today where he interacted with doctors, nurses and other medical staff and, thereafter, held a meeting with top officials of the district administration as well as officials of other emergency services of the district at Nagaon Circuit House.

During the meeting, Sonowal reviewed all measures being initiated by the district administration to tackle all possible situations arising out of pandemic COVID-19 spread. Sonowal also took feedback on sufficient medical arrangements for patients as well as other facilities to combat COVID-19 from the department concerned.

Similarly, he took feedback on availability of sufficient stocks of food and other essential commodities in the district from the officials of district Food and Civil Supplies department.

Meanwhile, he addressed a press conference held at the lawn of Nagaon Circuit House and thanked the people of the district as well as the State for maintaining the required social distance and other guidelines of the government during the lockdown period. He said that to fight against coronavirus, people had nothing in their hands except maintaining social distancing as no vaccine had been developed till date to fight the fatal virus.

Answering a question asked by a journalist, Sonowal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would take the needful decision whether the ongoing nationwide lockdown would be extended or withdrawn and the State government had nothing to do with the matter. Yet Modiji would discuss the issue with governments of all the States soon in this regard, he added.
