Sonowal takes part in Gunotsav

GUWAHATI, Oct 9 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today took part in the Gunotsav exercise at Jarapata LP School under Rampur Education Block of Palashbari LAC in Kamrup district today. The Chief Minister interacted with students and evaluated their reading and writing skills as well as overall academic environment of the school. He advised the students to maintain cleanliness in everyday life and pay adequate attention to studies.

Sonowal also held discussions with the school management committee, parents and other stakeholders to solicit their views regarding improvement of academic environment of the school. During discussion, he urged the teachers and parents to motivate the students to take up their studies seriously.

The Chief Minister also tasted mid-day meal being served in the school and advised the students on maintaining proper hygiene before and after food.

The second round of Gunotsav, a quality enhancement initiative of the State for bringing about improvement in learning level of students, began yesterday.

The first phase of the exercise, which will continue till October 11, will cover sixteen districts � Bongaigaon, Cachar, Charaideo, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar, Morigaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara Mankachar and Udalguri.

The second phase will be held from October 31 to November 3 and it will cover 17 districts � Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Chirang, Darrang, Dhubri, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Kamrup (Metro), Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Nagaon Tinsukia and West Karbi Anglong

Both the phases will cover altogether 35,94,768 students of 46,433 schools. Ministers and senior government officials are participating in the exercise.
