Sonowal reviews pandemic preparedness in Dhemaji

DHEMAJI, April 17 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the preparedness in Dhemaji district to fight COVID-19 outbreak and took stock of the prevailing situation arising out of the nationwide lockdown.

Sonowal, who was accompanied by P&RD Minister Naba Doley, arrived in Dhemaji on Thursday, met the heads of the departments at the conference hall of the Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner and collected ground report from the departments.

He instructed the Deputy Commissioner to keep the public distribution system smooth and transparent and take steps to mitigate the food crisis in the district.

The Chief Minister also requested the Deputy Commissioner to permit transportation of perishable Agri products from the district to other places, based on demand.

Sonowal assured that the State government will supply adequate number of personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to the district. He directed the Health department officials to keep all records pertaining to COVID-19 preparedness in the district.

Dhemaji Joint Director of Health Services Dr Ranodhar Kakati placed before the Chief Minister that they collected 85 swab samples so far out of which 77 have been found negative for COVID-19 while the results of the remaining samples are being awaited.

Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner Narshing Pawar handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to Sonowal during his visit to the district.
