Sonowal opens college building in Chirang dist

BONGAIGAON, Nov 9 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the new building of Don Bosco College at Chapaguri in Chirang district recently.

In his public address on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal praised Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrama Mohilary for bringing back peace to the Council area.

Explaining about the contribution of Don Bosco educational institutions towards imparting quality education, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the institution at Chapaguri will be able to produce quality human resources for the country, for which he expressed his goodwill to all those who were associated with the institution.

It may perhaps not be out of place to mention here that the college was established in 2005. Over 250 students are pursuing their courses in Arts, Commerce and Science streams which are run by 17 faculty members.

Cabinet ministers Chandan Brahma, Pramila Rani Brahma; BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, Professor Laishram Ladu Singh, Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University, Kokrajhar, Rev. Thomas Pulloppillil, Bishop of Bongaigaon Diocese, Fr. Januarius S Sangma and Silesian Provincial, Guwahati, were present in the inaugural ceremony.

The Principal of the college Alex Mathew in his welcome address elaborated on the objective of the institution and thankfully acknowledged the active support and cooperation of individuals, government, ministers, administration etc in setting up of the college.
