Sonowal offers prayers at Shiva Doul

SIVASAGAR, Oct 17 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal offered prayers at the historic Shiva Doul here on Wednesday evening.

The Chief Minister also took the blessings of the head priest of the temple, Suresh Chandra Borthakur.

Sonowal was accompanied by MPs Topon Kumar Gogoi and Kamakhya Prasad Tasha, and MLAs Jogen Mohan and Kushal Duwori, besides others.

Later, Sonowal met the district officers in Sukapha Bhawan and took stock of the government programmes and schemes being implemented in the district and stressed on their timely completion so that the beneficiaries can avail the benefits without any delay.

The Chief Minister directed Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Dr MS Lakshmi Priya to put special emphasis on the tourism development projects in order to place the district firmly on the tourism map of the world.

Sonowal urged upon all to make use of modern digital technology for effective results.

The Chief Minister also took stock of the state of affairs in the education sector and instructed the Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar, to regularly monitor the implementation of Mid Day Meal scheme, distribution of free textbooks and uniforms, and Swachh Bharat scheme in every educational institution.

He directed the forest officials to plant saplings on the premises of all government offices for a clean and green Sivasagar.

Sonowal asked the Transport department to sincerely implement the new traffic laws to ensure that the people abide by the new regulations and accidents could be averted.
