BONGAIGAON, March 4 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of a formalin plant at Dhaknamari in Bongaigaon district today.

The plant, which will be built in an area of 163 bighas of land at a cost of Rs 100 crore, will make 200 tonnes of formalin, a chemical preservative, daily from methanol supplied by APCL�s methanol plant located at Namrup.

Sonowal presented many development prospects associated with the new formalin plant. Minister of Commerce and Industries and Transport, Chandra Mohan Patowary , who was also present, said the local youths have been employed in the industry as non-technical manpower also for transporting methanol from Namrup.
