Sonowal launches 2nd phase of PMAY(U) in State

NAGAON, July 27 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal centrally laid the foundation stone of the second phase of the flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) today here at a residence of Nagaon Choukitoop.

Addressing the stone-laying inaugural ceremony held at Nagaon Khagen Mahanta auditorium, Sonowal said that under this particular scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to build a concrete house for each poor family across the country so that they can protect their respective social security and can lead a life of respect as well as modesty in the society.

The �Ramarajya� � the dream of the Father of the Nation, is being turned into reality after 72 years of country�s independence by Prime Minister Modi through various Centrally-sponsored flagship schemes like Ujwala, Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash etc., Sonowal said adding that Modi is working for everyone so that all can maintain his or her pride in the society.

In the inaugural ceremony, Sonowal distributed cheques of the first instalment of Rs 80,000 among three beneficiaries and also distributed cheques of last instalment among three beneficiaries of the town. Besides Sonowal on-the-spot transferred, the first and last instalments of Rs 80,000 and 30,000 respectively among 4000 and 2000 beneficiaries of the State through an electronic device.

Senior BJP leader and former Union State Minister for Railway Rajen Gohain, Minister for Water Resources Keshab Mahanta, State Minister for Urban Development (Independent) Pijush Hazarika, BJP MLAs Rupak Sarma, Ramakanta Deori and Dimbeswar Das and other senior officials of State Mission Directorate of PMAY, district administration and Nagaon Municipality Board were also present in the function.

The function was organised by the State Mission Directorate, PMAY in association with Nagaon Municipality Board. Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department, Niroj Verma delivered the welcome address while ADC Jayanta Kumar Bora and MD, PMAY, Subhasish Das anchored the programme.
