Sonowal interacts with students of MDKG College

DIBRUGARH, Oct 4 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today yet again sought to know common people�s opinion about the performance of his government as it completed more than 100 days of rule in the State.

He was speaking at an interaction programme with students at Manohari Devi Kanoi Girls� College here today. The students reportedly appreciated the Chief Minister for helping the economically backward students in their studies and expressed hope that education would become affordable for all sections of people under his leadership. They also wanted price rise to be checked.

The Chief Minister, in his speech, appreciated the academic ambience of the college but at the same time exhorted the students to excel in all disciplines so as to attract awards from his end. He also called upon the student community to engage in the Swachh Bharat Mission in whatever ways possible so as to promote cleanliness in all spheres.

Sonowal also spoke about flood and erosion by the Brahmaputra and its tributaries. �Assam is no doubt suffering due to large-scale flood and erosion, but the menace cannot be solved through agitation. The rivers have great potential for our economic growth. We have to address the problems scientifically,� he said.

In an event held yesterday evening at the Dibrugarh University, Sonowal felicitated community leaders of some 48 villages and 11 tea estates, the representatives of gaon panchayats and village leaders for their role in attaining Open Defecation Free (ODF) zone status for their respective areas.

The event was organised as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission and as part of the three-day Gandhi Jayanti celebrations by the Public Health Engineering department and UNICEF at Ranghar auditorium, Dibrugarh University.
