Sonowal holds discussion with Mising delegation�

GUWAHATI, Jan 22 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today held a meeting with a delegation of Mising Autonomous Council at Assam Administrative Staff College and had a threadbare discussion on several issues and problems that the Autonomous Council is confronting with.�

Chief Minister Sonowal, while exchanging his views with the delegation, stated that in a bid to fulfil the aims and aspirations of the people belonging to Mising community, he would request the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to set up a radio station at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district.

He also asked the Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes (WPT&BC) department to prepare a proposal. In the context of �Mising� being mentioned and interpreted as �Miri� in different official documents of the Central Government, Chief Minister Sonowal asked the WPT&BC department to prepare a proposal for the Cabinet to take an appropriate decision to be sent to the concerned authority to bring about necessary changes in the government documents.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sonowal also maintained that the Cabinet Sub-Committee will discuss the issue of declaring Ali-Aye Ligang, the main festival of Mising people, a government holiday.
