Sonowal, Himanta in Delhi

NEW DELHI, May 20 - Incoming Chief Minister and State BJP president Sarbananda Sonowal, accompanied by Himanta Biswa Sarma, general secretary in-charge Ram Madhav and secretary Mahendra Singh, arrived in the national capital here this evening.

According to sources, Sonowal is likely to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submit his resignation from the Union Council of Ministers. Sonowal is also expected to meet BJP national president Amit Shah and discuss about the formation of his ministry and prepare a list of ministers. Sources said that the first time MLAs are likely to be excluded, though a final call is yet to be taken on those MLAs who have emerged as giant killers. Allies like AGP and BPF are also likely to be consulted regarding induction of their MLAs in the Council of Ministers.

The party is also yet to take a decision on former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, though indications were that he may be offered the post of Speaker or given the option of joining as a Governor.
