DIBRUGARH, NOV 12 � Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sarbananda Sonowal has proposed to start a sports science discipline at Dibrugarh University to enable sports enthusiasts of the region take the help of science to develop their skills in sports.
Sonowal said that sporting events across the globe were reaching its highest standards due to scientific approach.
Sonowal was addressing an assembly of teachers, alumni, students and Administrative Staff of Dibrugarh University during a felicitation programme organized as part of the golden jubilee celebration of the varsity at Rangghar auditorium today.
The Union Minister has already engaged an officer of secretary rank from its ministry to discuss technicalities with the DU authorities to launch the Sports Science discipline in the varsity. He said that applications of science in sports would really build up local talents to produce world class champions from the region.
