NORTH LAKHIMPUR, June 3 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today attended a �Mahila Samaroh� (women�s meet) at Gogamukh along the Lakhimpur�Dhemaji district boundary to distribute financial aid among women SHGs under the Kanaklata Mahila Sabalikaran Asoni.
The Kanaklata Mahila Sabalikaran Asoni is a flagship scheme conceived of by the Government of Assam to pave the way for generating avenues for sustainable livelihood for the women of Assam under the Rajyik Gramin Bikash Abhiyan.
A largely-attended meeting was organised on the occasion in the playground of Subansiri Collage at Gogamukh today where subsidised loans worth Rs 5 lakh each per women SHG was distributed.
The meeting was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the presence of Cabinet Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat, besides Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah.
State BJP president Ranjeet Dass also attended the meeting as a guest of honour. The meeting was also attended by Jonai MLA Bhuban Pegu, Dhemaji MLA Dr Ranuj Pegu and Nowboisa MLA Mamud Imdadul Haq Chawdhury.
