By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, Jan 22 - At a time when a large section of Bengali speaking people in Barak Valley are spending days amid speculations and uncertainties having missed to feature in the first published draft list of National Register of Citizens (NRC), Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has allayed the simmering fear saying that so long he is monitoring the developments, the people of Barak Valley have no reason to worry.

Do not get perturbed by the random talks attempted to create panic. We have a beautiful State and all must work to make it the number one State in the country. Please do not pay heed to stray talks. There is no need to be worried as long as I am here with your blessings, Sonowal told the people while addressing a meeting at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital during the golden jubilee celebrations on Monday.

Earlier, after attending a meeting at the office of the Cachar Deputy Commissioner, Sonowal said that additional workforce has been assigned in Barak Valley to accelerate the process of verification of the documents so that the task can be completed within the specified time.
