Sonowal accuses State govt of corruption

By CORRESPONDENT

MORIGAON, Aug 8 - Union Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Sarbananda Sonowal today said the BJP would provide a corruption-free and effective Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC), provided the electorate voted the partys candidates.

Addressing a public meeting connected with the TAC polls organised by party workers at Morigaon, Sonowal said the BJP was the only party which would ensure the rights of all the ethnic groups of Assam.

Sonowal said that the Tiwa Autonomous Council polls would also carry the message of the Congress defeat in the Assembly elections scheduled for 2016.

Sonowal further said that the Assam government was involved in deep-rooted corruption in all developmental schemes and the Tarun Gogoi-led government did not submit utilisation certificates concerning the Centre-sponsored schemes, resulting in fund curtailment by the Central government to Assam.

The Union Minister also alleged that about Rs 150 crore sanctioned to the TAC during the last five years had been misappropriated by the Congress-ruled TAC.
