Sonitpur DC bars inter-district travel

TEZPUR, July 21 - In view of the situation prevailing due to COVID-19 pandemic and anticipating a breach of public peace and tranquillity in Sonitpur district, Deputy Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh has barred all inter-district movement of individuals with effect from July 22, 2020 until further orders.

Movement shall be allowed only for medical and last-rites emergencies with prior permission. Application for permission may be submitted online at http://sonitpur.gov.in/latest/e-curfew-pass-for-lockdown-period.

The following categories will be exempted from the purview of the restrictions � defence, Central and State police forces, establishment of the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police, home guards, civil defence, fire and emergency services, disaster management, electricity, water, sanitation, municipal bodies (only staff required for essential services like sanitation, water supply, etc.); hospitals, retail and wholesale medical establishments; print and electronic media including newspaper distribution; telecommunication, internet services, broadcasting and cable services, IT and IT enabled services to continue with personnel permitted to work from home only.

Only emergency repair crew would be allowed for movement subject to prior permission/ pass from appropriate authority; power generation, transmission and distribution units and services shall continue; transportation of essential goods, vehicles of health, fire, law and order and emergency services are allowed; all transport services and movement of people from other districts shall remain suspended except that connected to COVID functions.

Inter-State movement shall also remain suspended except with prior permission/pass. People (inter-State/ inter-district) holding train/air tickets to and from Guwahati as well as to Guwahati shall be allowed to move only on production of such tickets at check points; railway offices and persons directly linked with operation of passengers and goods trains shall be allowed to operate on being so assigned; no persons shall be allowed to venture out simply on the ground of being employed in the exempted category of services; funerals and sraddhas shall be allowed with a maximum of 20 persons.

All other activities specified as exempted above shall remain prohibited in the entire district until further orders. The order will come into force with immediate effect throughout Sonitpur district and shall remain valid for the lockdown period and until further orders.
