Sonia asks State Cong to prepare poll action plan

NEW DELHI, March 4 � The Assam Congress has been asked by Congress president Sonia Gandhi to prepare an action plan for the next Assembly elections scheduled for 2016.

Divulging this, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta, who met the Congress president this afternoon at Parliament House, said that he had briefed her about the political situation in the State and the strategy adopted by the party.

�We have been asked to prepare an action plan for the Assembly polls,� the APCC chief said.

The Congress president further advised the State Congress unit to appoint two agents for each Assembly constituency. �She also reviewed the functioning of the over 24,000 booth committees appointed by the party,� said Dutta.

�The Congress president has further asked me to periodically review the work done by each Congress Minister and MLA and submit reports,� he said.

Besides Sonia Gandhi, Dutta also met political adviser to the Congress president Ahmed Patel, general secretaries Janardan Dwivedi and Dr C P Joshi among others.

Meanwhile, former union minister Paban Singh Ghatowar also met the Congress president today and discussed the political scenario in the State.

With Assam going to polls next year, the Congress high command has started focussing on the political activities in the State with renewed vigour. The Congress president during the last couple of days has met a number of party leaders from the State.
