Sonapur College to hold national seminar in Nov

JORABAT, Sept 15 - A two-day national seminar on �Ethnicity, Identity and Politics: Quest for Peace and Development� will be organised by the Department of Political Science, Sonapur College on November 1 and 2 next.

The seminar will be sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), NERC, Shillong and will be held in collaboration with Dr Dhanjit Medhi Foundation, Sonapur College, with support from Gauhati Refinery, informed Dr Karabi Devi and Subhash Baro, conveners of the seminar.

There will also be discourses on 15 other sub-themes in seven technical sessions during the two-day long seminar in which more than a hundred academicians and researchers are expected to present their papers. Moreover, two eminent scholars of the Northeastern region will address the plenary session.

Interested researchers, scholars or others working in similar fields may attend the seminar as a general participant or paper presenter.

The organisers have appealed to the participants to send their abstracts on or before September 20 and full papers on or before October 20.

The organiser of the seminar has further informed that the selected research papers will be published in a book with the ISBN Code. The registration fee for the faculty and others will be Rs 1,000 with paper and Rs 700 without paper, while the same for the research scholars will be Rs 500 and Rs 300 respectively.

On the other hand, the students can register for presenting papers at Rs 300 and for general participation, a fee of Rs 200 is needed. For details, the interested may visit the college website.
