JORHAT, Aug 8 - Police last night arrested Abhijit Gogoi (22), a resident of Karanga Jania village under Cinnamara Police Outpost on the outskirts here on charges of killing his father Munin Gogoi.
The police action came after a women�s group of the village lodged an FIR against Abhijit accusing him of severely physically assaulting his father reportedly in the presence of other family members on August 3 over some matter.
Munin, who was admitted to the Jorhat Medical College And Hospital was subsequently shifted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh as his condition was reportedly critical. He succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
A police source said that investigation was on and other family members of the deceased will be questioned and action will be taken accordingly.
