Solar power plant in Tripura commissioned

AGARTALA, Feb 17 � A 5-MW solar power project, the first its kind in north-east India, has been commissioned by the North East Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) at Monarchak in Sipahijala district of Tripura.

�The project, with a financial involvement of Rs 40 crore, was commissioned on Sunday. The power would be carried from the project by a 33 KV double circuit line up to Rabindranagar substation of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL),� SR Biswas, head of project, told reporters today.

He said the solar power would be commercially used by TSECL for consumption by people of the State.

Biswas said NEEPCO would commission a 50-MW solar power plant in Madhya Pradesh and another 2-MW plant in Nagaon district of Assam. � PTI
