Solar lights distributed at Lampi village

By A Correspondent

BOKO, Jan 10 - The Boko-based Army camp distributed solar lamps at remote villages in Lampi, 30 kms from Boko.

Lampi, situated in a remote area connected with a most dilapidated road, cannot dream of electricity for at least another 20 to 30 years. The villagers purchased kerosene oil at Rs 80 to 120 per litre and the cost of one packet of candles is Rs 40 to 50. So most of the villagers cannot afford to burn a lamp or a candle in their houses. Most of the villagers have not even seen a bulb or a lamp. In such an area, the Indian Army distributed solar lights on Friday creating a history of sorts in the area.
