Social media push in BJPs poll success

By KABITA DUARAH

GUWAHATI, May 20 - The celebrations are still on at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh head office here. With the historic mandate clearly reflecting the aspiration of change, party leaders have voiced their determination to honour all the commitments made in the Vision Document. The impressive performance was the result of hard work, planning and coming up with the right strategy, including the team that carved the route to success through social media.

The Assam Social Media Team of the BJP played an important role in taking the campaign digital and reaching out to lakhs through social networking sites. The Assam Social Media Team had 17 dedicated youths led by Satya Ranjan Borah, state secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Assam Pradesh.

It needs mention that the team worked 24X7 and spent 51 sleepless nights to make things easier for the party and its campaigning, thus creating a milestone in the political history of the State. Lucky Gogoi, Suranjan Dutta, Ranjan Chakravorty, Abhishek Saikia, Banajit Dev Choudhury, Niharendra Sarma, Ishan Bharali, Achinta Pran Sarma, Amrit Kumar Das, Rituparna Hazarika, Dhruba Baishya, Subrata Sarma Baruah, Epsita Baruah, Hiya Dutta, Abhijit Bora, Chao Hemojit Dhekial Phukan and others were the core members of this social media team which was supported by more than 50 groups in 50 Assembly constituencies of Assam and other public and private groups of Assam and India.

The success of the team also proved the capacity of local committed men and women and established the less importance of any so-called social media celebrity which higher-ups in the party had imported for the State.

Sources informed that the milestone social media campaign of the BJP was led by a significant Facebook page named MyBJPMyCM which became an instant trend across Assam, India and abroad. It got 50,000 likes in just 50 days and 51,000-plus likes in 51 days. More than 15 lakh users were engaged in the entire campaign 24X7 with MyBJPMyCM. The numbers itself proved the spontaneous involvement of common people in the campaign.

As per the report, constituencies under Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Karimganj, Golaghat, Nagaon, Nalbari, Bongaigaon, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur and Karbi Anglong districts had huge social media impact. Dr Bhupen Hazarikas motivated songs were highly used in the entire social media campaign by the BJP Social Media Team.

Satya Ranjan Borah said, We convey our heartiest acknowledgement and gratitude to each and every social media user and contributor who did brilliant work to make it happen. He said the Assamese people living in the USA, Australia, Dubai, Russia, UK, Canada and other countries were also involved in the entire campaign. It was a global team work. People wanted a change and we are privileged to have created the right ambience for the winds of change through social media for Assams allround development, he added.
