GUWAHATI, Aug 14 - Dr Amal Bhattacharya and Surendranath Sharma Memorial Independence Day Knockout Football Tournament was kick started by Dispur MLA Atul Bora today at the Janata Bhawan playground here.
Altogether 32 teams are participating in the two-day tournament. The final will be played tomorrow and the prize distribution ceremony will be held in the afternoon.
The champion team will receive a cash award of Rs 20,000 while the runners-up team will become richer by Rs 10,000.
Prizes will also be given to best player, best goalkeeper, promising player, among others.
