Snag in chopper carrying CM

GUWAHATI, May 28 � An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter carrying Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to the venue of the mega food park in Nalbari district today developed a technical snag in mid-air. However, the pilots managed to bring the chopper back safely to the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.

Official sources told The Assam Tribune that the chopper carrying the Chief Minister and six officials had taken off from the Army cantonment at Narengi around 11.05 am for Tihu where Gogoi was scheduled to attend the inauguration of the North East Mega Food Park. While crossing the river Brahmaputra, one of the engines of the helicopter developed a technical snag. However, the pilots managed to land the chopper in the LGBI Airport safely.

Another chopper was brought to the airport about half an hour later and Gogoi and his officials started their journey around 12 noon.
